There is not a lot that can be said about this one. Ohio State needed an opponent that would accept a one-game deal, that game being in Columbus (Ohio). Tulane needed a check. Both got what they wanted out of this one with Saturday's game wrapping up Ohio State's non-conference schedule and Tulane getting paid a reported 1.5-milllion dollars for their effort.
Urban Meyer will be back for the Buckeyes on the sidelines as his suspension has now been served but don't believe for a second that people are ready to stop talking about it. But for those three-plus hours on the field, that suspension won't mean a damn thing as Meyer returns to be the game-day coach and the Buckeyes are heavy favorites in this one.
With Penn State coming up in just a week, is there any chance that Ohio State loses focus in this one? Unlikely. But we make our picks regardless as Ohio State and Tulane match-up at Ohio Stadium at 3:30pm on Saturday (Big Ten Network).

This has the makings of being a 'name your score' kind of game and that really has very little to deal with Tulane and more for the fact that the Buckeyes have been dominant on offense this year, especially against over-matched opponents. Add to the mix that a guy named Urban is going to be back and it could be a long day (at least three quarters until the dogs are called off) for Willie Fritz and his Green Wave who will likely be reduced to a green puddle by the end of this one. Dwayne Haskins will put up more Heisman-esque numbers in the passing offense while the Buckeyes will get a nice one-two punch going on the ground again with Penn State on the schedule next week.

The Buckeyes will miss having the talent of Nick Bosa on the field but they better get used to it because signs point to this not being a quick recovery. The Buckeyes will be able to do pretty much whatever they want on the field and could take the score well beyond my prediction but I believe that Meyer will have a quick hook for some of his starters with such a challenging game on the slate just a week down the road. With Nick Bosa out because of a very vague injury, the closest thing we've been able to ascertain is it's an injury very near his manhood, and the return of Urban Meyer this week, it's very easy to forget there's a game against Tulane on Saturday. Truth be told, by 7 pm, Tulane would probably sooner forget.
UNSCRIPTED OHIO: Meyer in but Bosa out
Yes, we unfortunately have to wait until 3:30 for this bloodbath to begin. Bosa's absence won't make much of a difference this week. Next week at Penn State may well be a different story, but for now Ohio State's goal should be to get through this game with no further injuries. The Buckeyes' passed its first test on offense against TCU despite the dropsies from Austin Mack. There should be no problems getting going against Tulane on offense or even defense, against a streaky Tulane team. Ohio State 56 Tulane 10

Any concern about a letdown may be negated by Urban Meyer’s return to the sideline. But this is a tune up in every sense of the word. On offense, Ohio State must continue to work on its red zone and short yardage offensive efficiently without the same run threat from QB Dwayne Haskins.
FULTON ANALYSIS: Offense | Defense
On defense, we will begin to see how OSU handles the loss of Nick Bosa. Look for OSU to expand its 3-3-5 third down package to expand its blitzing possibilities in Bosa’s absence. Ohio State 48 Tulane 15

The expectation would be for the Buckeyes to come out and play with a lot of excitement as head coach Urban Meyer returns to the sidelines. But too much excitement can lead to mistakes so channeling that early adrenaline will be something to focus on heading into Saturday afternoon's game.
On the other sideline, Tulane is probably a better team than most give them credit for, but this is an opponent that the Buckeyes should be able to impose their will on physically. I expect a better atmosphere in Ohio Stadium than what we would usually see for this type of non-league game and for Dwayne Haskins and the Ohio State offense to continue to move the ball at will.
ALSO: Following the Future
The Buckeye defense has been susceptible to big plays and I think Tulane will hit a couple but this should be a pretty comfortable win for Urban Meyer in his return so long as the Buckeyes don't get caught glancing ahead to Penn State. Ohio State 45 Tulane 14

Urban Meyer is back. That's the biggest storyline this week, not that Tulane is coming to town. The Green Wave have had one winning season since 2002, and are fresh off a loss to the UAB Blazers, a school that didn't even have a football team a few years ago. On offense they are led by junior running back Darius Bradwell, who's rushed for 205 yards at a 5.4 per carry clip this season. Senior Jonathan Banks is the quarterback and he's got accuracy issues, completing 48 percent of his passes to date in 2018. He hasn't faced a defense nearly as good as Ohio State's either.

What else to expect but domination in a game like this? Under normal circumstances the Buckeyes throttle Tulane, but now you have all the emotion and passion brought with Meyer's return on top of that. Ohio State is better in every facet and there's not much more to say here. I'd add that maybe they come out slow because Penn State lurks next week, but really against a team as over-matched as this one the Buckeyes can afford to look ahead and still win comfortably. The Buckeyes passed their first real test of the season last week with a win at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas against TCU. They move forward in the season with a lot of confidence in the offense and defense, even with some problems still lingering in their back seven. Urban Meyer returns to the sideline and is a welcome sight for the players and coaching staff. Not that Ryan Day did a bad job, Meyer said himself that he thought Day and the coaching staff did a "phenomenal" job in his absence.

This is really what this game is all about, the return of Meyer and how the team performs with him on the sideline. Of course the Buckeyes will face a pretty decent, but not great Tulane team, it will likely end in a dominate Ohio State victory. Tulane quarterback Jonathan Banks, running back Corey Dauphine, along with wide receivers Darnell Mooney and Terren Encalade will be players the defense will have to face without the likes of Nick Bosa, who won't play this weekend due to an abdominal/groin injury.
Expect another great performance from the Ohio State offense and some improvement from the Buckeye defense as they look to shore up some aspects in their game before traveling to No. 10 Penn State for another big test next weekend. Ohio State 63 Tulane 13

Urban Meyer is back and I look for us to have a nice burst of energy to start this game. The team is coming off of a night away game which leads to some rough travel issues (they got home at 4 am on Sunday), so they are a bit off schedule. I look for Dwayne Haskins to continue testing teams deep and I look for the Mike Weber/J.K. Dobbins combo to buzzsaw for 200 yards total on the ground. After the half it'll be Tate Martell time and we'll get a good glimpse at next year's starting QB.
Defensively it is time for Chase Young to play on the level that Nick Bosa played at as a sophomore where he made 1st team All American. This is a golden spot for him and he needs to become dominant. I feel that our linebackers will settle down with Meyer riding Bill Davis hard and they will improve. Also, how is this not a noon game? Bring on Penn State... Ohio State 49 Tulane 14

The king is back and I am guessing he will be angry as ever. Ryan Day hands the keys back to the king with a sparkling 3-0 record and the most complete team I have seen here since 2015. I have loved watching our OL rock off of the ball and wear down defensive fronts, and it paid huge dividends last week versus TCU. The running game and defense are things that will be paramount to winning in Beaver Stadium next week and the back seven needs to tighten up this week before they see Trace McSorley.
Defensively, Dre'Mont Jones is staking his claim to being the second Buckeye off the NFL Draft board (behind Nick Bosa) with his signature performance versus TCU. I believe it'll be between he and Haskins. I think Pete Werner will continue to develop as our next star OLB and will make another play off the edge on a pressure. I will be interested to see if we increase our blitz percentage with Nick out of the lineup for the foreseeable future. Ohio State 56 Tulane 21

This is the game that Ohio State fans have been waiting for. Urban Meyer will be back on the sidelines as the Buckeyes look to show that the switch back to Urban will be as smooth as possible.
What about Urban? What does he want to do? We can all assume that he will come out and show absolutely zero mercy against Tulane.
Tulane comes into this game with a record of 1-2 with losses to UAB and Wake Forest. Even without Nick Bosa, the Buckeyes’ defense will be all over Tulane. Look for many turnovers as well as lots of three-and-outs from Tulane’s offense.

For Ohio State’s offense, it’s expected that Dwayne Haskins will continue to show why he is a Heisman Candidate. The running backs will be absolutely dominant, and the receivers will find their way to the end zone many, many times. The two-headed monster of J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber will continue to show just how scary they can be moving forward.
Haskins will throw for an easy 350 yards and three touchdowns, and we will most likely see Tate Martell for the majority of the second half. Expect Martell to show just how good he really is, with excellence on the ground and through the air.
All in all, this game is sure to be a blow out, and Urban Meyer’s return will have Buckeye fans even more excited than they already are (if that’s possible). Ohio State 63 Tulane 10

I’m finally back. It took long enough but I’ll finally be able to plug my headset in and return to the sideline. Unfortunately no one is talking about our opponent, who I can’t recall. People are talking about how wonderful Ryan Day was. People are talking about how his/my team showed character and beat TCU at our third home stadium (Ohio Stadium and one in Ann Arbor are the others). People are talking about next week’s game against Penn State. My players are liking the national attention. No one’s sensing it now, but that’s a problem. There’s going to be a lot of attention surrounding my return. So whoever the hell we are playing on Saturday will start out strong, perhaps even taking the lead. We will again come from behind in what might be thought of as a sandwich game. Eventually talent will win out. After a sloppy start, we’ve got this. Ohio State 52, Whoever the hell we’re playing 10
