INDIANAPOLIS – If it feels like the Buckeyes have sent an unprecedented amount of defensive back prospects to the NFL Combine over the past two seasons, it is because they have. Ohio State is sending three this season to go along with three just a year before. Marshon Lattimore may be the player of the 2017 draft class that is getting the most mentions as a potential top-10 player in the upcoming draft.

Not bad for a player that looked like he might be on a medical hardship path during his Ohio State career as he could never stay healthy enough to see the field for any significant time. It also did not help with the talent in front of him.

Lattimore has heard medical questions the whole time he has been at the combine.

"That’s the first thing they asked me," Lattimore said. "How are my hamstrings, just tell them about my hamstring situation. But I’m a 100-percent right now."

The former Ohio State corner entered the draft knowing that he would be asked about this so the repeated questions do not come as a surprise.

"I knew it was going to get asked about it so I’m not annoyed about it." Lattimore said. "I’m just enjoying the process right now."

Lattimore endured and 2017 was an injury-free season and the Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville star made the most of his time with four interceptions to go along with nine pass breakups and 41 tackles for the 11-2 Buckeyes that earned a trip to the College Football Playoff.

Of course, the concern is what will the NFL doctors find with Lattimore's hamstrings, injuries that robbed the former Tarblooder of most of his first two seasons with the Buckeyes.

What does Lattimore hope to accomplish most at the combine?

"A lot of talent here from top to bottom," Lattimore said. "A team is going to get a great player from the first round to the fourth round. It’s a deep draft and I’m honored to be considered one of the top cornerbacks in the draft. Just coming from where I came from it’s a blessing."

Does Lattimore feel that he can be a top-five pick and join Joey Bosa and Zeke Elliott with that distinction in the last two drafts, and potentially Malik Hooker as well?

"I got the confidence that I’m one of the best, but I had to get healthy enough to show that I’m one of the best and that’s what I did this year," Lattimore said.
