COLUMBUS, Ohio – Chris Holtmann and the Ohio State men's basketball team got their first big piece of news on the recruiting front and it is with a member of the class of 2017 as one-time Butler signee and Massillon (Ohio) product Kyle Young has announced his intent to follow the coaches who recruited him to Ohio State.

The 6-foot-7, 190-pounder brings a diverse game to Columbus with an excellent outside game to go along with the ability to penetrate off the dribble. He will also give the Buckeyes an excellent rebounder who can help fill the void by the departure of Trevor Thompson.

"This has been a very difficult decision," Young said via social media release. "I have asked for and received my release from Butler."

Young is the definition of a combo-forward with the skills of a power forward but the ability to play in the small forward position or even some spot time in the backcourt.

The new Buckeye will join Braxton Beverly and Kaleb Wesson in the class of 2017.

“We are very excited to add Kyle to the 2017 class,” Holtmann said via a university release. “His versatility, motor and work ethic make him a great addition to our program. We really look forward to getting him to campus to join his teammates.”

"I could not be more excited to announce that I am staying home to play for Coach Holtmann and the Ohio State Buckeyes next season." Young continued in the release. "His vision for Ohio State Basketball is exciting, and I want to be a part of building something special in my home state."
