Ohio State remains atop the 2018 team recruiting rankings, but was dealt a blow on Wednesday evening when Rivals100 defensive end Brenton Cox announced his decommitment. Cox will likely soon decide between Alabama and Georgia. With a class that needs at least two, and as many as three, defensive ends, the Buckeyes are left looking for multiple prospects at the position with just about two months until National Signing Day in February.
With many prospects signing during the early signing period December 20-22, there is an even greater sense of urgency right now to start securing options at the defensive end position.
Below, we take a look at some of the Buckeyes' current targets and options along with a snap shot of where things stand right now. Keep in mind that with Cox opening things up, there likely will be some new names popping up in the coming weeks as the Buckeyes kick some tires and the coaching carousel continues to spin.
The seemingly on again, off again relationship between Friday and the Buckeyes picked back up recently but a recent visit to Michigan looks to have the Wolverines in good shape to land the four-star prospect. Ohio State could make an in-home visit next week with Friday and that will be something worth watching for in the coming days.
