COLUMBUS, Ohio — Somewhere between Phoenix and Columbus on Jan. 2, Urban Meyer and Ed Warinner had a talk. Flying high — both literally and figuratively — after Ohio State’s 44-28 win in the Fiesta Bowl, the two coaches wasted no time dwelling on what the past.
The ink on the box score had barely dried, yet there was Meyer and Warinner, on an airplane, thinking about 2016.
“We had momentum in the last two games, we wanted to carry that over through the offseason and build on it this year,” Warinner said on Saturday after Ohio State’s 77-10 romp of Bowling Green. “(Coach Meyer) was the architect of it. A lot of really good coaches and a lot of really talented players all worked hard … to produce this.”

Indeed, it is just a start, and it was against a mid-major opponent, but after struggling a season ago in these types of games — early in September and versus the likes of Hawaii, Northern Illinois — there is reason to be excited.
