National Singing Day took another twist for the Buckeyes on Wednesday morning as quarterback Dwan Mathis changed things up and flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Georgia on Wednesday morning. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder hailed from Oak Park (Mich.).
Mathis was rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 102 player in the nation according to Rivals.com and was previously committed to Michigan State before committing to Ohio State.
Rumors of current UGA quarterback Justin Fields looking to transfer out of the Georgia program and Ohio State being a potential destination may have taken its toll on this one. Fields entered the transfer portal on Tuesday evening and that will allow teams to talk with Fields moving forward.

Now the Buckeyes are without a quarterback in the class of 2019 and with it looking highly likely that Dwayne Haskins will forgo his eligibility to enter the upcoming NFL Draft, the Buckeyes have some thin numbers at quarterback with Tate Martell and Matt Baldwin on scholarship along with transfer Chris Chugunov, a former West Virginia signal caller.
This means that Ohio State will either have to find a quarterback by the late signing period or maybe someone in the transfer portal will make their way to Columbus.
We will have more on how the dominos are falling as the day goes on and will be speaking with Ohio State’s future head coach, Ryan Day later this afternoon. You don’t want to miss anything here on Signing Day.
