COLUMBUS- With big names such as Tyquan Lewis, Nick Bosa and Sam Hubbard, the Ohio State defensive line is being hailed as one of the best position groups in the country before even taking a snap. However, with high that amount of praise comes even higher expectations throughout the country. Defensive line coach Larry Johnson has built a culture in his position room that thrives on that kind of pressure.
Johnson is not your typical football coach. According to Dre'mont Jones, he rarely curses or yells at his players. His passion for football and his players is what drives him to create the culture of the defensive line room.
In his fifth season, Lewis feels as though Johnson is a father figure to him.
“He loves you,” Lewis said. “He loves you through rough times, any time. He shows you that he loves you. That’s what makes him special.”
