Gant signs, ready to enroll early

One of the very top in-state targets from early in the process, Toledo (Ohio) St. John's linebacker Dallas Gant has signed his Letter of Intent with Ohio State and will enroll in January. The Army All-American made things official at his high school on Wednesday morning.

Gant's recruitment was a classic Midwest battle as the Buckeyes fought Notre Dame, Michigan, and Michigan State for Gant's services. It was an April unofficial visit for the Ohio State spring game that ultimately sealed the deal for Ohio State and the four-star linebacker prospect, giving the Buckeyes a win in one of the better Midwest recruiting battles of the 2018 cycle.

FLASHBACK: Gant commits to Ohio State

As was the case with most of Ohio State's class of 2018 commitments, Gant had a tremendous senior season, even playing some offense in helping his team reach the OHSAA state playoffs.

Ohio State is getting an intelligent player with good instincts and a player who has made impressive physical strides during his high school career. Gant is expected to report to Ohio State in January at about 225-pounds, after playing his sophomore season in the 190-pound range.

Gant will be one of many Ohio State commits taking part in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 7th and he will enroll at Ohio State the following week.
