Regardless of opponent, Ohio State put forth one of its most explosive offensive performances of the Urban Meyer era in defeating Bowling Green 77-10. The Falcons operated from a base 4-3, mixing match-up zones like quarter-quarter-half and cover 4 with man blitzes. But the Buckeyes exploited the Falcons’ schemes with the H slot position.

As Urban Meyer stated, this is the first season where he has had true hybrids such as Curtis Samuel and Dontre Wilson – particularly Samuel – who can both run the football as a tailback and function as a receiver.

Against Bowling Green, this allowed Meyer and Ed Warinner to do three things.

First, the Buckeyes created advantageous matchups with personnel and motion. For instance, on several plays, Meyer and Warinner initially aligned Samuel outside, spreading Bowling Green out with a five receiver set. They then motioned Samuel in to the halfback position – from where he not only ran outside but also inside on tight zone.
