COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State quarterbacks coach Ryan Day has only had a short amount of time to work with each of Ohio State's talented quarterbacks from a hands-on perspective as spring practice is still only its second week. That does not mean that the new Ohio State position coach has not had a chance to notice what each one does well and where each of them will need to make strides.

Day has spent time both at the collegiate and pro levels as a coach and has focused on quarterbacks since the 2013 season at Boston College. He is one of three new coaches that Urban Meyer brought in during the offseason and the hope is that Day will be able to find what the Buckeyes were lacking last year down the stretch from the position.

The new Ohio State coach has the luxury of bringing in a multi-year starter with J.T. Barrett, a player who is on his third position coach of his tenure with the Buckeyes but that has not stopped Barrett from absorbing everything that he can in his pursuit of getting better.

"I know that he is working hard with his footwork and working on throwing the ball in the pocket," Day said on Tuesday morning. "He is excellent in play-action pass, so it is really just building on what he has done so far in his career here."

Day is also fortunate to walk into a quarterback room that may be as talented as any program in all of college football. Barrett, Joe Burrow, Dwayne Haskins and Tate Martell give the Buckeyes a 1 through 4 punch that few programs can match. Day has had a chance to work with all four and offered some quick words on each.
