CINCINNATI – Nobody was more excited when it was announced that St. John Bosco was set to play in the Skyline Crosstown Showdown than Wyatt Davis. The class of 2017 offensive line commit to the Buckeyes would get a chance to play in the state of Ohio, even if he would not get a chance to visit his future home.

The 5-star lineman did not disappoint as his team rolled over St. Xavier at Nippert Stadium in a 34-0 shutout. Davis was dominant during the game even after missing some time after an ankle injury forced him from the field and to the trainers.

"I was blocking my guy downfield and the running back got tackled right behind me and I landed straight on my ankle that I hurt last year," Davis said. "I thought I tweaked it but I just thought I could tough it out, tape it up and I am good now. It did scare me a little at first."

Teams don't come in and shutout St. X, but Davis' team pulled off the rare feat. Davis and his team knew they would be in for a challenge and had a good week of practice leading up to the game.

"It was a great game. Going in we knew St. X was going to be a great team so it was real important that we were working hard all week in practice and just came out here and executed," Davis said. "I felt that we had our little bumps and here and there but mainly we executed what we tried to do."

It was a warm night in Cincinnati as storms have thrown the whole week one into a bit of chaos. Davis admitted that the weather was a bit of a change from Southern California.

"The humidity, I am going to have to get used to that a little bit, I am used to the Cali weather," Davis joked. "It is nothing will affect me that much. It was not too bad."

Davis had a chance to camp at Ohio State over the summer and committed quickly after that. What was it about Ohio State that made the Buckeyes the school for the 5-star?

"I just felt that that program is definitely a program where I can truly develop as a man and a football player," Davis said. "All of the stuff that coach (Urban) Meyer talks about with helping guys if football does not work out, that stood out to me. I find that very important because football does not work for everybody, so it is important to have something to fall back on."

Did Davis have a chance to make it to Columbus on this short trip?

"My parents went up there because my mom did not see it yet but she went up there and saw it," Davis said.

And how did that trip go?

"She loved it."

Davis admitted that he is a big fan of the recruiting game and was happily surprised when Tyjon Lindsey pledged to the Buckeyes.

Davis is working on a teammate of his from the class of 2018.

"I think No. 6 on our team, he might be a future Buckeye," Davis joked. "You did not hear that from me."

Jaiden Woodbey is a four-star athlete who plays safety for St. John Bosco. Time will tell on that one. But if Davis' excitement for Ohio State is contagious, the Buckeyes may be tough to beat.
