The Buckeyes are back in the NCAA Hockey Tournament after a multi-year absence. It was announced on Sunday afternoon that Ohio State was one of the 16 teams to make the cut and Ohio State (21-11-6) will face No. 2 overall seed Minnesota-Duluth (25-6-7) in Fargo (N.D.) on Friday night (6:30pm EDT – ESPNU) in the West Region.

The winner of that game will take on the winner of the North Dakota (21-15-3) vs. Boston University (23-11-3) game.

Ohio State has not been in the NCAA Tournament since the 2009 season and this is the 7th time in program history that the Scarlet and Gray will take part in the final tournament of the season.

This is year four for head coach Steve Rohlik as Ohio State head coach and the Buckeyes have shown steady improvement during his run with the team. Ohio State lost in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament to Wisconsin over the weekend, 2-1.

If the Buckeyes are able to win two games and advance to the Frozen Four, it will be a six-hour bus ride to Chicago as the Buckeyes shoot for their first hockey national championship in program history.
