Big-time pass rusher calls Ohio State his dream school

Ohio State coaches were scattered all over the country on Monday stopping in at high schools, checking in on top targets, and offering talented underclassmen prospects. One prospect who fell into the latter category was St. John's College (DC) defensive end/outside linebacker Mekhail Sherman.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound class of 2020 prospect has a chance to be one of the nation's best in his class.

"Being happy and blessed from this offer is an understatement," said Sherman of the offer from the Buckeyes. "It’s just the work of God, he always listen to my prayers even if they are silent."

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and defensive line coach Larry Johnson stopped by St. John's College on Monday and relayed the offer to Sherman through his high school coaching staff.

Ohio State has had success in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area over the years, particularly under head coach Urban Meyer. The Buckeyes could be a major player for Sherman who grew up following the team.

"As my dream school, I know almost everything about Ohio State," he explained. "The rivalry between Penn State and Michigan and everything. I've just always watched them on TV and liked their chemistry on the field and how they win games together."

Sherman is coming off a tremendous sophomore season where he showed plenty of versatility. His ability to both rush the passer, play the run, and drop into coverage make him a potentially special talent. But he understands there is still plenty of work to be done with two years of high school football left.

"Right now i’m working on my speed," he explained. "Overall I’m working on everything little thing about my technique because, with the opportunities the Lord is blessing me with, I got to pay back with an exemplary season ending with a ring."

Some of Sherman's other early offers include; Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
