COLUMBUS, Ohio- Ohio State officially announced Monday that former Washington State defensive coordinator Alex Grinch would be joining the coaching staff as the 10th assistant. As a native of Grove City, Ohio, the 37-year-old coach comes in with high expectations in his first season in Columbus.
After finishing the 2014 season giving up an average of 38.6 points per game and 442.2 yards of offense to opponents per game, both of which ranked near the bottom of the Pac-12, Washington State hired Grinch as defensive coordinator after three seasons as the safeties coach at Missouri. After his first season in Pullman, he had decreased the average points give up by 10.9 points, giving up an average of 417.2 yards per game.
