Warinner picking up momentum

Recruiting is beginning to take off for class of 2018 Powell (Ohio) Olentangy Liberty linebacker Edward Warinner. The 6-foot-1, 222-pound recently picked up his first two offers from Buffalo and Ohio U. While the interest from Power Five programs also continues to pick up, getting the first offers on the board is always a big moment in the recruiting process.

"Ohio U. was my first offer," said Warinner. "It was pretty cool. I went down with my head coach and as soon as we got there they had me go to coach Solich's office and that's when he offered me, then after that we did the Junior Day stuff. It felt good to get that first one."

Warinner was at a familiar place on Saturday, checking out Ohio State's spring game. The latest visit to Ohio Stadium was a little bit different for Warinner as he was able to visit as a recruited prospect, not just the son of an assistant coach. Perhaps the itinerary changed a bit for Warinner, but with the relationships he has at Ohio State, everything else remained the same.

"Now I'm able to go as a recruit so I can go into the recruiting room and go down on the field," he explained. "It's really pretty much the same though, nobody treats me any differently."

Warinner was just as impressed as anyone else when it came to the atmosphere at the spring game with the Buckeyes setting a national record with more than 100,000 people in the stands.

"It was really cool," Warinner said of the atmosphere. "Football is a big deal in Ohio. You want to be a part of something that people care about and in Ohio people really care about football."

Warinner continues to hear from Power Five programs such as Pittsburgh, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, Michigan State, and West Virginia among others. He added that he will use the Spring Evaluation Period to see which schools are showing the most interest before determining his June camp schedule.
