COLUMBUS, Ohio - Last season the Ohio State special teams had some issues down the stretch. An injury to Aaron Pettrey threw things in disarray for a while until Devin Barclay stepped up in the Iowa game.
But now as the team is getting ready to go into the 2010 season there is a kicking competition between Barclay with true freshman kicker Drew Basil in hot pursuit. Both players had big days in the Horseshoe on Saturday afternoon during the annual fall kick scrimmage.
Competition brought the best out of both kickers with the pair only missing on a couple of field goals including one off of the right upright and another 50-yard-plus kicking coming up just short.
The BuckeyeGrove.com cameras caught up with both kickers after the scrimmage and here today we talk with the challenger, Drew Basil, and see how he felt after the event. On Sunday we will catch up with the incumbent, Devin Barclay, and ask him the same questions.
