Tyjon Lindsey commits to Ohio State

Tyjon Lindsey is commitment No. 17 for the Buckeyes.

What could end up being a huge week on the recruiting trail for Ohio State started out with a bang on Monday morning as the Buckeyes landed Rivals100 wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound speedster out of Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman chose the Ohio State over Nebraska, USC, Alabama, and many others, becoming commitment No. 17 in the 2017 class for the Buckeyes.

"Ohio State is the perfect school for me," Lindsey told BuckeyeGrove.com of his decision.

Ohio State vaulted itself to the forefront of Lindsey's recruitment on a late March unofficial visit and never really looked back from there. A recent return trip for the Friday Night Lights camp sealed the deal.

Lindsey, who has family in Middletown (Ohio), said that being close to his sister was among the determining factors in his decision.

"Going to Ohio State gives me the opportunity to be really close to some of my family members," he continued. "The opportunities that Ohio State will give me in life after football will be immeasurable."

After a brief stint back in California, Lindsey returned to Bishop Gorman recently and will once again team up with fellow Buckeye commit Tate Martell as one of the top quarterback/wide receiver tandems in high school football.

The Buckeyes may not be done landing elite wide receivers this week. Five-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas product Trevon Grimes is set to announce his decision this week, and all signs are pointing to more good news for Ohio State.
