Top prospect in Illinois high on Ohio State

Brown has been to Ohio State multiple times already.
Brown has been to Ohio State multiple times already.

One of the top performances at any Ohio State camp over the summer was turned in by two-way lineman Verdis Brown. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound class of 2018 prospect out of Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel earned an offer from the Buckeyes after a tremendous showing in June and he was back on campus Saturday for the big win over Michigan.

"It went very well, I enjoyed myself," said Brown of the latest visit. "I had a good time with the coaches and the players."

So what keeps Brown coming back to Ohio State?

"I really like the coaches and the fans," he said.

Brown has been keeping in touch with both head coach Urban Meyer and offensive line coach Greg Studrawa. Some talk has been circulating that the Buckeyes could be the leader for his services coming out of the weekend.

"That's about right," he said. "I don't want to say right now who the top 5 are, but (Ohio State is) definitely up there."

Brown is rated the top prospect in the state of Illinois for the 2018 class and the No. 138 overall prospect nationally.
