After some conflicting reports surfaced on Monday night, the date has been set for Frankfort (Ky.) Franklin County ATH Ryan Timmons as to when his college decision will be announced. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound speedster confirmed in a text message to BuckeyeGrove.com that he will make his college choice on Tuesday February 5th at 1 pm at his high school.
Timmons has seen his stock surge recently as his big senior season led to offers from both Florida and Ohio State. Timmons still plans to make his final official visit this weekend as he heads to Gainesville (Fla.) to check out the Gators.
Timmons made earlier official visits to Arkansas, Illinois, and Purdue but is expected to choose between Florida, Kentucky, and Ohio State. Of that group, only the Buckeyes did not get an official visit from Timmons who had a scheduled visit postponed two weeks ago.
Still, Timmons has made several unofficial visits to Columbus, most recently for the Ohio State/Michigan in late November and camped with the Buckeyes multiple times over the summer. Timmons was offered by Ohio State last week.
Over his last two high school seasons, Timmons accounted for nearly 5,000 yards of total offense and 81 touchdowns, making him one of the most productive high school football players to ever come out of the state of Kentucky.
Timmons is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 5 overall player in the state of Kentucky for the 2013 recruiting class.
