Three starting O-linemen among 23 unavailable for Ohio State at MSU
Ohio State will be without three starting offensive lineman and several key defensive players when the Buckeyes begin their matchup with Michigan State at noon.
The program released its status report Saturday morning, a day later than it typically would under normal circumstances, revealing that redshirt junior center Josh Myers and starting offensive tackles Thayer Munford and Nicholas Petit-Frere will all be unavailable against the Spartans.
Ohio State canceled its game against Illinois last week due to a COVID-19 outbreak that caused the team to pause team activities until this past Tuesday.
The release did not specifically delineate which players are out due to COVID-19, and which are unavailable due to injury issues.
Freshman tackle Paris Johnson Jr., a five-star recruit in the class of 2020, would likely have seen time as a replacement for either Munford or Petit-Frere on the outside, but he too was listed as unavailable.
On defense, starting middle linebacker and team captain Tuf Borland is out for the Buckeyes, as is junior safety Josh Proctor and junior defensive end Tyler Friday.
Depth at wide receiver appears to be another area in which Ohio State has taken a hit, as redshirt sophomore Kamryn Babb and freshmen Gee Scott and Mookie Cooper are all new additions to the Buckeyes' unavailable list.
In total, Ohio State will be without the services of 23 players on Saturday. Check out the full status report below.
