Simpson impressed with Ohio State

Ohio State has been very active at St. Simon's Island (Ga.) Frederica Academy when it comes to the 2019 class. The Buckeyes are recruiting a pair of prospects from the school, including cornerback Jaylin Simpson. The 5-foot-11, 155-pound prospect has racked up double-digit offers already, including one from the Buckeyes.

Simpson has already visited Ohio State, making it up for the Nebraska game during the fall.

"It was something that I have never experienced before and it was just a great time to be there," said Simpson. "It was good weather. When I walked around the school to take the tour, there wasn't anything I disliked about it. It was just a great environment for me, it's a place I'd like to be."

Ohio State cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs is Simpson's primary recruiter for the Buckeyes.

"He's a nice guy, he seems like somebody that I could be able to play under," he said. "I like him a lot."

Simpson is hoping to get back to Ohio State again in the not too distant future, likely with fellow 2019 standout Jashawn Sheffield.

"I would love to get up there again in the summer," he said.

Another program that has made a good impression so far on Simpson is Florida State. The Noles have always done pretty well in Georgia.

"I was at Florida State (recently) and I like them just as much as I like Ohio State," he said. "I like the weather there a little bit better than Ohio, just being from South Georgia that is more what I'm used to. The campus is nice and it's just a great environment as well."

Simpson says he would like to get into coaching when his football career is over and is looking at majoring in Sports Management. That along with the usual comfort and relationships will help him as he tries to separate one school from another during his recruiting process.

"Mainly the love that the school shows and what's best for me and my family," he said.
