Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has a knack for flipping prospects late in the game and he did so once again with Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral linebacker Pete Werner. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect decommitted from Notre Dame in late November, shortly after making a surprise unofficial visit to Ohio State for the Michigan game.

Just days later, Werner setup a mid-December official visit with the Buckeyes before committing on that visit.

Things came full circle between Werner in the Buckeyes. Ohio State had offered the four-star prospect last winter and was prepared to make a big push to land his services. Werner was even expected to make an unofficial visit to Ohio State shortly after receiving his offer but promptly committed to Notre Dame and the trail went cold.

But as Notre Dame's season began to unravel, Ohio State continued to take the temperature of things and was eventually able to convince Werner to take that November unofficial visit.

Now Werner will be the second Cathedral product to sign with Ohio State under Urban Meyer, joining wide receiver Terry McLaurin who signed with the Buckeyes as a member of the 2014 class.

"I can't wait to be a part of the Buckeye Family," Werner told BuckeyeGrove.com. "Words can't describe how excited I am. I am excited to start the next stage of my life. I'm up for the challenge and will give it all that I have in order to be successful on and off the field."

Werner brings versatility to the linebacker room at Ohio State. He has the ability to play all three linebacker positions, but could get his first look at the open MIKE position.
