It was quite a roller coaster ride in the 2020 class for Ohio State when it comes to recruiting the running back position. After some close calls over the summer, Ohio State turned its focus to Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods standout Miyan Williams in early October.

At the time, Williams was committed to Iowa State and was seemingly pretty comfortable with that pledge. But Ohio State made Williams their top priority during the fall and gradually built a relationship with the three-star back and his family, culminating in a November unofficial visit.

That unofficial visit was supposed to set the table for the Buckeyes to perhaps flip Williams later on his official visit, but instead the Queen City star flipped his choice to the Buckeyes that very day, ending what had been an exhaustive search for a back in this class.

Williams made his official visit this past weekend as a Buckeye commit and on Wednesday morning sent in his letter of intent.

Givler's Thoughts

Williams comes to Ohio State as one of the more prolific rushers out of Ohio in recent years, amassing more than 5,000 yards during his prep career at one of the state's top programs.

Williams will remind a little bit of J.K. Dobbins in terms of his build. He is only about 5-foot-9, but he is incredibly strong and runs very low to the ground which makes it difficult for defenders to get clean hits on him.

What Williams lacks in breakaway speed he makes up for with power and balance. Ohio State's running back room is probably more talented than given credit for so seeing the field early could be a challenge, but he comes into college pretty much ready to go and should provide immediate depth.
