Isaiah Pryor is one of nine early enrollees to Ohio State already on campus but the Lawrenceville (Ga.) (by way of IMG Academy) native is no stranger to the Ohio State campus after spending a lot of time with his future teammates after committing to Urban Meyer in July of 2015.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety already has the size and skills of a player beyond his years and will now have an opportunity to try and push for playing time, even on special teams, in year one as the Buckeyes see three defensive backs leave the starting lineup for the second consecutive year.
It has been a long time since Pryor made the call to Meyer to tell him that he is coming to this moment, but it is now go time for Pryor with the Buckeyes after picking Ohio State over a deep list of offers from many of the nation's top powers.
"It was always a school that I liked, one of the first offers that I had and just kept relationships with coaches," Pryor said in a video produced by Ohio State football upon enrolling for the January semester. "My parents liked it, I loved it so it made it an easy decision."
Pryor and fellow class of 2017 teammate Marcus Williamson were teammates at IMG Academy and already had a chance to develop a good friendship even before enrolling at Ohio State in January for the new semester and becoming eligible to take part in winter and spring drills with the team.
Ohio State's defensive back haul for this class was nothing short of phenomenal. With six defensive backs coming in, there will be no shortage of competition just among the class of 2017. What are the Buckeyes getting in Pryor?
"He is a big-framed prospect so he could very well end up playing in the 225-pound range before it's all said and done," BuckeyeGrove.com recruiting analyst Marc Givler said. "Because of that, it could be difficult to project exactly where he'll fit best at the college level. One thing is for sure though, he is a supremely talented prospect that plays the game at one-hundred miles per hour and there is always a way to get a talent like that on the field."
Pryor has his own description of himself.
"Hard working, always ready to get after it, hate losing, " Pryor said.
There are plenty of goals for each player enrolling in the program, Pryor's are pretty straightforward.
Perfect my crafts, get better every day, learn new things and get my degree," Pryor said. "I want to win a National Championship, that is the number one thing."
