Signed: Gee Scott Jr.

Every cycle there is generally a surprise early commitment or two. Sometimes those stick and sometimes they don't but in the case of Rivals100 wide receiver Gee Scott Jr., it was a stress-free recruitment for the Buckeyes.

Scott committed last December on Christmas Day and the proceeded to be the ultimate Buckeye from that day forward. From recruiting for Ohio State, to spurning overtures from programs around the nation (including the childhood dream school Washington who came in late), to just completely engulfing himself in the Ohio State program and traditions, Scott showed any doubters about his commitment that he would not be swayed.

So it was no surprise on Wednesday morning when Scott sent in his LOI just minutes after his window opened up to do so. The West Coast star puts the finishing touches on an Ohio State receivers class that is considered the best in the nation in the 2020 cycle, perhaps the best in school history, and one of the best nationally in recent years.

Givler's Thoughts

Scott is as physically imposing of a high school wide receiver as you'll ever see. He's virtually impossible for defensive backs to get a good jam on at the line of scrimmage and he's able to use his big body to box out cornerbacks at just about any point on the field.

While he does not have blazing fast speed, he is still able to make plays vertically because of his size and ability to go up and get the football. There are some similarities there between Scott and Michael Thomas in that people under-estimate his ability to make plays downfield because he might not be a 4.4 guy.

Scott enters Ohio State about as physically ready as you can be as a wide receiver. There will be a learning curve, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him in the rotation early in his career. This is a player that not only possesses a lot of physical talent but has the right mindset to grind and do what is asked of him to earn his spot.
