The Buckeyes locked up their top kicking target early.

Ohio State did not have to wait long to find its kicker in the 2017 recruiting class. Buffalo (NY) Canisius product Blake Haubeil emerged on the radar very early for the Buckeyes. Haubeil camped with Ohio State in June of 2015 for the Buckeyes' kicking camp and impressed the coaching staff enough to earn an offer with his performance that day.

It took just about a month to make his decision. Haubeil returned to Ohio State for the Friday Night Lights camp in July and promptly committed to the coaching staff.

While he kept a low profile during his recruiting process, Haubeil may be relied on earlier than expected. Tyler Durbin's departure leaves an opening for the kicking job in 2017.
