COLUMBUS, Ohio – There was plenty of excitement over the new-look Ohio State passing game going into Saturday but make no mistake, Ohio State will always be a power-running team and that was evidenced on Saturday against Oregon State.
Dwayne Haskins and the passing offense may have been gone for 346 yards and five touchdowns, but the rushing offense was right there as well, going for 375 yards and five scores of its own as the Buckeyes 721 yards of total offense ranks second all-time in school history (776 vs. BGSU – 2016).
All eyes were set to be on J.K. Dobbins as the starter and he had a good game, 15 carries for 74 yards but it was Mike Weber that took the headlines with a 20 carry, 186 yards and three touchdown day, with an average carry of 9.3 yards per play.
Ohio State fans had a chance as the season went on last year to see Weber get healthy after missing the first game of the season and starting off very slow in 2017. There was no slow start in this game as Weber had touchdown runs of 16, 49 and 4 yards in a dominating performance.
But Weber felt that he had a lot still to give.
