IN HIS OWN WORDS…

“Due to me reclassifying I’ve been in communication with coaches a lot more,” Jones said. “I’m trying to figure out who really wants me. I’m being recruited the hardest by Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson, Ohio State, and Florida. I’ll be making a list of top schools sometime this summer. There is a possibility I commit before the season but it’ll most likely happen during the season.”

Alabama- “Coach Tosh has been recruiting me for two or three years now,” he said. “He’s got the defensive coordinator title now so he is showing me a lot of love. I talked to coach Scott the other day and he can’t wait for me to get down there. They are saying I’m built for Bama.”

Tennessee- “The visit was pretty good,” said Jones. “I got to go around with coach Tino. I talked to coach Kelly and the other coaches too. The coaching staff is really elite now. It’s an up-an-coming program and they are going to turn it around. They are showing me a lot of love and they are definitely in need of more defensive backs.”

Clemson- “I’ve been getting recruited by coach Venables and coach Reed for a long time,” he said. “They’ve been telling me for a long time that Clemson is a top university athletically and academically. They could really see me there and they want to help mold me into a man on and off the field. It’s a big family school. I could definitely see myself in that defense using my length and athleticism.”

South Carolina- “Coach T-Rob has a really good defense,” Jones said. “I’ve been talking to him and coach Krantz too. I’ll meet coach Muschamp this weekend when I go down there. I expect to see how they run things, meet more of the coaching staff, see the campus, and get a feel for everything around there.

Ohio State- “This is a good athletic and academic school,” he said. “It’s another school that’s at the top in both aspects of life. With Teradja going there, that’s a link I can use to see what’s going on down there, find out how they treat the players, and find out what the coaching staff really thinks about me. I talk to coach Meyer most of the time. He sends me links to see the things that are going on down there. I definitely need to get down there. I’ll try to get there for the spring game. I don’t really know the new defensive backs coach yet.”

Florida- “They are definitely a good group of people,” said Jones. “I talked to coach Sal the other day. He’s a really cool dude. He’s trying to get me down there pretty soon.”

RIVALS’ REACTION…

Jones has always thought very highly of Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. South Carolina will have their chance to impress him this weekend and Tennessee showed him a good time on a recent visit. Both schools will need to show Jones that they can produce on the field before they move into the upper tier of his recruitment. Florida is in a similar situation as South Carolina and Tennessee but his relationships in Gainesville still need to get stronger.
