Perry continues to make believers

Not to take anything away from Joshua Perry's ability to play football but he may be a better person off the field than on the field. That does not matter now as the Chargers recognize how good he is on the field as they just drafted him in the 4th round.

CHICAGO – The run on Ohio State players continues in the 2016 NFL Draft with Joshua Perry coming off the board with the No. 102 overall pick of the 4th round to the San Diego Chargers. The Ohio State draft class is set to be one of the best of all-time and Perry joins Darron Lee from the linebacker position to go so far as the Buckeyes look to set the single draft record for players selected. Perry will also join teammate Joey Bosa in San Diego, who was the first-round selection of the Chargers with the third overall pick.

Perry was part of a senior class that went 50-4 for the Buckeyes with a national championship and a Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame under their belts. Perry played in 52 of those 54 games for the Buckeyes and started 37 of them.

During those 52 games Perry amassed 298 total tackles along with 18 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and eight pass break-ups.

Perry was also honored by being named a finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy and was also one of 11 players named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

The Chargers are getting a player who brings a great deal of leadership and maturity to the locker room and to the field. Perry has great size at 6-foot-4, 254-pounds but the question remains if he can be a 3-down player due to that size in terms of passing downs.

Additionally, Perry is a player that will be active in the community and was involved with several causes during his time with the Buckeyes. Life after football will be very bright for Perry, who already holds a degree in consume and family financial services. Head coach Urban Meyer has raved about the type of person that Perry is off the field but the results have shown that Perry is not bad on the field either, so life after football may have to wait awhile.
