Penn off to a good start with new staff

With his recruiting process starting to pick up and his father now employed by Ohio State, class of 2020 Dublin (Ohio) Coffman point guard Dominiq Penn figures to see a lot of Ohio State over the next couple of years. Penn was on campus last week on an unofficial visit and got to spend his first real quality time with the new coaching staff.

"I did not tour the school but I got to watch (team workouts) and got to sit down with Coach Holtmann and coach Pedon and talk to them with my mom," explained Penn. "They wanted to know a lot about me and my family and they were telling me how great and beautiful the university was."

Penn spent the most time with Buckeyes' assistant coach Ryan Pedon.

"Lastly I ate and talked to coach Pedon for a long time and we were bonding pretty well," he continued. "I feel like I have a really good relationship with the coaching staff now."

It is never certain how prospects will react to sweeping coaching changes, but so far so good when it comes to Penn and the Buckeyes.

"I like basically everything about them," he said. "I liked the way they informed me about what kind of point guard they want and need. They also love my family. I feel really good about this staff."

But Ohio State isn't the only major program starting to show interest in Penn. The talented floor general has some of the nation's best programs showing interest early on.

"Indiana, Notre Dame and Xavier have been on me hard lately," he explained. "They communicate with my high school (coach) everyday. Louisville also."

Penn has a few visits coming up this fall.

"I have an Indiana visit on September 16th and a Notre Dame visit on October 21st," he added.
