COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State men's basketball played three games before experiencing their first blip in the schedule.
Saturday's game between the No. 23-ranked Buckeyes and Alabama A&M has been canceled, according to a release from the Ohio State Department of Athletics.
"The Ohio State Department of Athletics, in alignment with COVID-19 testing and protocols for non-conference opponents, has canceled the men's basketball game against Alabama A&M University," the release stated. "The decision was made out of an abundance of caution and with the welfare of the student-athletes, coaches and event staff in mind after Alabama A&M shared results of its most recent testing."
On Nov. 23, head coach Chris Holtmann said that from his understanding, a nonconference game would get nixed if one positive case arose from either team ahead of a contest.
The game against the Bulldogs was set to be played at 7 p.m. and would've been Ohio State's first at The Schottenstein Center since the season-opener against Illinois State.
The Buckeyes' will next compete in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Tuesday at Notre Dame. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
