Ohio State Athletics: Weekly Recruiting Round Up

It was a good week for The Ohio State Athletic Department in general as they saw multiple sports receive commitments from future Student-Athletes. Football and Men's Basketball sent out a few new offers this week as well. Let's take a look back at the week and see who decided to become a Buckeye and the ones offered the opportunity to join Buckeye Nation.

Sunday started off with the Football program extending an offer out to Jayvant Brown. A 2023 Linebacker from Deerfield Beach HS (FL), Jayvant visited Columbus and attended the Buckeyes' Saturday game against Maryland.

Jen Flynn Oldenburg and the Women's Volleyball program really got things started Sunday evening when they received a commitment from local 2023 standout, Eloise Brandewie. Eloise attends Bishop Hartley High School in Columbus. Ohio State Women's Volleyball is currently 14-2 and set to welcome Purdue (10/15) and Rutgers (10/16) to Columbus this weekend.

Later that evening Karen Dennis, your leader for the Track and Cross Country program received good news as well. Samantha Coleman out of Rocky River HS, which is located near Cleveland, gave her commitment to the Buckeyes. Samantha is a 2022 graduate.

On Monday it was Men's Lacrosse turn to receive good news as 2023 midfielder and face-off specialist, Owen Umansky gave his commitment to Nick Myers and staff. Owen who is from New Hampshire attends The Governor's Academy in Byfield, Massachusetts.

Later in the day on Monday we saw the Men's Basketball program offer in-state 2023 forward, Devin Royal. The 6-foot-6 Pickerington Central product ended up having a busy week as he picked up offers from not only the Buckeyes, but Xavier, Marquette, Butler, and Iowa St as well.

Tuesday saw the Football program jump back into the 2022 Quarterback market when they sent out an offer to Corner Canyon HS (UT) QB and current USC commit, Devin Brown.

Then on Wednesday, the Buckeye Baseball program received their own good news when 6-foot-3 lefty, Landon Beidelschies gave his commitment to Greg Beals and staff. Landon, out of Canfield High School, which is located just outside of Youngstown, became the second Canfield baseball product to give his commitment to Ohio State in as many months. He joins teammate, 2023 commit AJ Havrilla, who announced his intentions for the Buckeyes back in September. Landon is a left handed pitcher who chose the Buckeyes over Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Wright State, and Notre Dame.

Finally later in the day on Wednesday, Tom Ryan and the Wrestling program capped off the week with their own commitment. 2023 170lb, Rocco Welsh out of Waynesburg Central (PA) chose the Buckeyes over a handful of other top tier programs. Welsh is the first commitment for the Buckeye staff in the 2023 class. The Buckeye Wrestlers are less than a month out from the start of their season, as they welcome North Carolina to Columbus on November 7th.
