COLUMBUS, Ohio – It is a little bit more than a week until Ohio State's annual spring game and if past practices and scrimmages are any indication, it could be a pretty good battle between Ohio State's offense and defense.

Sure, the spring game does see the roster split in half, neither side is operating with a full complement of weapons during the annual scrimmage at Ohio Stadium. But what is more important is the fact that the offense has been showing more than just signs of life in practice, it has been giving Ohio State's defense some fits as they work through the spring practice period.

"Just the big plays they have been getting on us," defensive lineman Nick Bosa said. "Last year we dominated every practice and this year they are competing."

Ohio State finished the season with the nation's No. 31 offense in total offense and No. 11 in rushing offense. The passing offense was not where it needed to be however with a ranking of No. 81 for 213.9 yards per game and the passing efficiency ranked higher at 44th, but it was a far cry of where the offense was just two short years ago in the 2014 National Championship season, a season where J.T. Barrett started 12 games as a RS-Freshman.
