COLUMBUS, Ohio –– Ohio State guard Musa Jallow missed all of the 2019-20 season with an ankle injury, and despite returning for the season opener, the redshirt junior will miss more time for the Buckeyes this year.

Head coach Chris Holtmann said Tuesday that Jallow, who didn't play in Sunday's game against UMass Lowell, will miss Wednesday's game against Morehead State with a lower leg injury.

"I think he's making progress, but as far as projecting beyond our game versus Morehead State, I couldn't give you answers on that," Holtmann said Tuesday.

Jallow had an arthroscopic procedure on his ankle before last season, but the injury continued to plague him and the 6-foot-5 wing eventually opted to take a redshirt for his junior year.

Ohio State began its new season against Illinois State this past Wednesday, and Jallow played nearly 13 minutes despite shooting 0-for-4 from the field.

Holtmann said after the game that Jallow would need to shake some rust off after a year away from live games in scarlet and gray, but the Indianapolis native did not see the court during Ohio State's second game.

Afterwards, Holtmann said Jallow's absence was due to a lower leg injury –– a different leg than his injury from last season.

Jallow played in 35 games and started 13 as a sophomore in 2018-19, averaging 2.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game for the Buckeyes.
