The Buckeyes have added another in-state player to the class with the pledge of offensive lineman Thayer Munford to the Ohio State recruiting class. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound offensive lineman is out of Massillon (Ohio) Washington high school and recently visited Ohio State officially and before that welcomed Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer a recent visit at a basketball game.

Munford held nearly 20 offers before selecting the Buckeyes over several other schools including Iowa State and Kentucky, a pair of schools that Munford had taken official visits to.

The new Ohio State pledge lost a good portion of his senior season as he transferred from Cincinnati LaSalle high school to Washington and was declared ineligible by the OHSAA. He was reinstated week eight after the court system stepped in.

Even after missing a good portion of his senior season, teams did not back off of Munford. The Buckeyes had always been watching from the wings but it was not until after the end of the December recruiting dead period that the Buckeyes started to turn up the heat.

Munford joins Jaylen Harris (WR – Cleveland Heights) as recent in-state commits to the Buckeyes. Munford also joins Josh Myers and Wyatt Davis as offensive linemen committed in the class of 2017.
