Tight end Marcus Baugh has seen the highs and lows during his Ohio State career. The euphoria of catching the game-winning touchdown in 2017 against Penn State as part of Ohio State's ferocious comeback over the Nittany Lions and the lows of getting into trouble and immediately landing in the dog house as a freshman, being thousands of miles away from home.
The Rivals250 tight end out of Riverside (Calif.) surprised many when he committed to Ohio State without visiting Ohio State, at least as a recruit. Baugh was familiar with Central Ohio however with an aunt who lived in one of the Columbus suburbs.
Baugh held offers from several major schools including Florida, UCLA, Washington and Miami (Fla.) to name a few. If Baugh held out longer, he likely would have had more offers. But he had found the school that he wanted to go to.
The path to the field was not a quick one for Baugh. The four-star tight end found himself in Urban Meyer's doghouse twice in six months for underage drinking charges.

Baugh was redshirted for 2013 and had to wait until 2014. During Ohio State's national championship season, Baugh largely saw action on special teams as the third tight end behind Jeff Heuerman and Nick Vannett. Baugh did have one reception that went for a touchdown on the year against Kent State.
The next season would see Baugh move up one run on the ladder as a back-up to just Vannett but the numbers were not significantly better in terms of offensive output with just two receptions on the year. Baugh did see his time on the field increase as the year went on and was more of the blocking tight end for much of the year.
2016 was where things turned the corner on the field for Baugh and he would be named honorable mention All-Big Ten by both the media and the conference coaches. Baugh would have 24 receptions on the season with a 11.2-yard per catch average to go along with two touchdowns.
Baugh would earn honorable mention honors from the coaches and media again in 2017 as Baugh would have a career high in receptions (28), yards (304) and touchdowns (5).
The departing tight end is tied for ninth with Vannett in career receptions by an Ohio State tight end with 55. Baugh's eight career touchdown grabs is good for being tied for No. 7 in the Ohio State record books for career TD receptions by a tight end.
Baugh will take part in the upcoming NFLPA Bowl (Jan. 20th) and hopes to have a good showing there and at the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine. WalterFootball.com has Baugh ranked as the No. 15 tight end in the nation at this point but still projected in the rounds four through six range. A strong showing at both NFL events as well as Ohio State's Pro Day could go a long way in moving Baugh further up the board and a step closer to realizing his NFL aspirations.
