After much anticipation in recent weeks, Ohio State has landed big-time in-state target L'Christian Smith. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound wide receiver out of Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne had been hinting at a summer commitment for a while now, but went back and forth on a couple of different dates. Ultimately Smith was able to settle on the day of his team's season opener.

The Rivals100 prospect pulled the trigger a couple of hours before his game on Sunday afternoon, announcing that he will be staying in-state and going with the Buckeyes.

"They get down to business at Ohio State," Smith told BuckeyeGrove.com of his decision to commit to Ohio State. "Going to O-State, your future is in great shape. You can go back and get a job and use your connections, that's how much of an impact being an Ohio State football player has."

Smith's commitment propels Ohio State to No. 1 in the 2018 team recruiting rankings and gives the Buckeyes an impressive eight commitments within the top 35 overall prospects in the nation.

Stay tuned to BuckeyeGrove.com for more on Smith's pledge as the Buckeyes have now landed two of the top three seniors in the state of Ohio, with No. 1 Jackson Carman still in play.
