The Buckeyes are back at it again in the class of 2018 and it is a big one with the verbal pledge by quarterback Emory Jones out of Franklin (Ga.). He is the second commit for Ohio State's class of 2018 and continues a tremendous run of quarterbacks by the Buckeyes that includes Dwayne Haskins, Tate Martell and Danny Clark in previous years.

The 6-foot-4, 179-pounder selected the Buckeyes over a list of finalists that included Tennessee, Clemson and Georgia. Jones had emerged as one of the hottest names in the quarterback ranks for the class of 2018, a year that will show a tremendous amount of depth in terms of signal callers.

At one point it seemed as if Jones was set to commit to Tennessee prior to a call from the Ohio State coaches asking Jones to give the Buckeyes a chance to make an impression. Obviously that impression worked with Tim Beck going down to Jones' high school to see him throw and subsequently offer. Jones followed that up with a chance to throw for head coach Urban Meyer at a satellite camp in Atlanta and then a visit to Ohio State for a multi-day visit where Jones had another opportunity to throw for the Ohio State coaches.

After another return visit to Tennessee, Jones recently spent the weekend at Ohio State, throwing at the Friday Night Lights camp and spending Saturday and Sunday morning with players and coaches.

We will have more on this breaking news for the Buckeyes including what the commitment means for the quarterback position moving forward and what it may mean in terms of recruiting for the rest of the class of 2018.
