CHICAGO - After several weeks of anticipation, the Ohio State fan base got the news it was waiting for on Thursday afternoon as the Buckeyes landed a huge commitment from Rivals100 offensive tackle Jamarco Jones. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound lineman out of Chicago (Ill.) De La Salle chose Ohio State over Big Ten rivals Michigan and Michigan State at a ceremony held at his high school.
"I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Ohio State," said Jones. "It just felt right. I feel like they can give me everything I need. They can push me to become a better player and person."
Jones, who visited all three of his finalists in consecutive days nearly two weeks ago, ultimately felt the most comfortable with Ohio State. With his pledge, Jones becomes commitment No. 14 for Ohio State in the 2014 recruiting class.
"Those were important," he said. "It was my last chance to really talk to the players and the coaches."
Jones is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com, the No. 97 overall player in the nation and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Illinois.
