Harris cuts it to five

The recruitment of the nation's No. 1 running back Damien Harris took another giant step forward on Friday night when the 5-foot-11, 205 pound running back cut his list of schools to a top-5. The five-star running back had been at a list of eight prior but shed three teams with his latest list.

The finalists now are Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio State and Texas A&M (listed an alphabetical order). Gone are Florida State, Notre Dame, Oregon and Michigan, a program that once held a commitment for the talented running back.

It is hard to determine if the exclusion of Michigan or the inclusion of Texas A&M, a school that only just offered Harris earlier on Friday and that was not in his initial top-eight, is the biggest surprise. The Buckeyes and Wildcats appear to be his favorites but there will still be a long way to go before he announces his commitment on December 13th.

Current Ohio State commits Jashon Cornell and Justin Hilliard are very close with Harris and have been working overtime on the Buckeyes behalf to reel in one of the biggest recruits in the nation.

Harris holds offers pretty much from every major program in America and could pick just about any school that he wants to in the end. Keep it locked in here at BuckeyeGrove.com as there is still a long way to go in the recruitment of Harris.

Again, thanks to every coach that's recruited me. It's been a true blessing 🙏 #RollTide #GoGators #BBN #Bucks #Aggies pic.twitter.com/RxrN6apglo- Damien Harris (@Damien_D1Harris) August 1, 2014
