COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dane Goodwin was the first player to commit to Thad Matta's three-player class of 2018 and is now the last of the three to decommit since the end of last season and the ultimate departure of Matta from the program.

The Upper Arlington (Ohio) guard has been part of the Ohio State class since Goodwin's freshman year and now he is back on the market but will still consider Ohio State as he reopens things.

Goodwin reported met with the new Ohio State last week and while sources said that the meeting went well, the Buckeyes and Goodwin have parted ways, at least for the time being.

Darius Bazley and Justin Ahrens already made their intentions to reopen things known before the hiring of Chris Holtmann by the Buckeyes.

Holtmann and his staff will have a large number of scholarships to work with, five to be exact, even after the addition of Kyle Young earlier this week for the class of 2017.

Goodwin is the No. 123 player in the Rivals150 for the class of 2018. Notre Dame and Villanova had both offered Goodwin during the process and are considered to be contenders to land his commitment.
