The Ohio State offense fell victim early to a defensive strategy that has had some success against the Buckeyes during Urban Meyer’s tenure. The Golden Hurricane combined aggressive front seven and safety play with soft corner coverage.
Tulsa frequently slanted or twisted up front – going to or away from the halfback depending on apparent Buckeye formational tendencies. For instance, when confronted with the Y-off tight end and halfback to the same side, Tulsa often stunted to the halfback.
