The Ohio State offense suffered from a slow start against Indiana before using explosive plays to pull away to a comfortable victory. The Buckeyes’ uneven start perhaps resulted from how the Hoosiers mixed their schemes – along with Ohio State’s inconsistent execution.
Up front, Indiana often aligned their three interior defensive linemen inside Ohio State’s offensive tackles in an effort to limit the Buckeyes’ base tight zone play. Because the Buckeyes like to run to the side where the halfback is aligned, the Hoosiers would often place their end to that side in a 4i technique over the tackle’s inside shoulder.
Alternatively, on third and short, Indiana repeatedly used a bear front; featuring a nose guard over the center along with two three technique tackles.
