COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State Buckeyes are accustomed to recruiting in Texas, especially when it comes to recruiting wide receivers from there over the past few years.

Ryan Day’s staff has signed elite pass catchers Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the 2019 and 2020 cycles, respectively, and currently hold a verbal pledge from Rivals100 prospect Caleb Burton.

They’re not ready to slow down their momentum, however, as Ohio State has already dished out offers to a trio of 2023 wideouts from the Lone Star State: Braylon James, Jalen Hale and Johntay Cook.

The first to visit the school this year was James, who attended the program’s final camp of the month earlier today. When speaking with BuckeyeGrove’s Kevin Noon and others after he was done, James said that the Buckeyes made a strong impression on him.

“It’s legendary,” James said. “You can’t find this experience anywhere. You hear about it on the news, you hear it about it in the media. But actually being able to see it in person and just get a feel for it yourself is surreal. I’m just really enjoying this process. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else today.”
