Familiar name on Buckeyes radar

The Ohio State basketball program headed to Mentor (Ohio) to grab center Micah Potter in the 2016 recruiting class. Now it is Urban Meyer and the football program keeping a close eye on Mentor High School, specifically class of 2019 defensive end Noah Potter.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound prospect is the younger brother of the Ohio State center and is coming off a strong sophomore season. Potter was invited to Ohio State's Junior Day last weekend and came away impressed with Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson.

"It went great," said Potter. "Coach Johnson, the D-Line coach (stood out). He was really straightforward with you and he has had many players go on to the NFL."

Ohio's 2019 defensive line class is looking like a loaded one on the defensive line, with a handful of high level prospects already emerging. Johnson gave Potter some words of encouragement during their time together.

"Coach Johnson said that he liked what he saw and that I have the ability and that I need to make it happen," Potter recalled.

Potter's physical tools are evident and he's working to become a more polished player this off-season.

"I have good speed and explosion right now," he said. "I'm working to be more consistent with my technique, like hand placement and hip maneuverability."
