Jets receiver Devin Smith will miss majority of training camp with broken ribs
The New York Jets made the announcement on Friday night and Smith will be held overnight in the hospital as a precaution.
Smith was working with the first team and made an impressive catch off of a deflected pass that drew cheers from others at Jets practice but also drew contact from Jaiquawn Jarrett and was slow to get up. Smith was taken in for observation by team doctors.
In 2014 with the Buckeyes, Smith had 33 receptions for 931 yards and 12 touchdowns and finished his Ohio State career with 30 receiving touchdowns over the span of 54 games.
Former teammate
Jeff Heuerman, a third round pick by the Denver Broncos, is already out for the year after tearing his ACL during rookie camp and will not suit up in 2015 as he goes through the arduous rehab process.
