SAN ANTONIO - Five-star offensive lineman Wyatt Davis has been one of the crown jewels of this 2017 Ohio State recruiting class since the summer. The 6-foot-3, 328-pound prospect has been solid with his pledge to the Buckeyes since that time, but the reality of recruiting nationally is that other programs aren't going to stop recruiting your commits.

Recently, there has been some smoke surrounding Davis and USC as the Trojans hope to convince Davis to stay home. But the nation's top ranked guard prospect says there is nothing to the rumors.

"There's nothing there," Davis told BuckeyeGrove.com on Thursday. "There's nothing with USC. I'm fully committed and I don't have any visits coming up. I'll sign with Ohio State in February."

On the field at Army Bowl practice, Davis has improved as the week has went along, having arguably his best day of practice on Thursday.

"It has been pretty fun," Davis said. "Going up against the best and having to learn the plays really quickly, it's kind of giving us a taste of what it's going to be like at the next level. It's been a great experience so far. It's a lot different from going against guys that weight 220-pounds to guys that are 280-pounds and quick. I really like the competition and it's really helping me."

Davis has also been able to spend much of the week bonding with his future teammates.

"I've been hanging with a lot of the guys," he said. "Chase (Young), Shaun (Wade), Tate (Martell), Josh (Myers), I've been hanging out with all of them."

Davis won't enroll early at Ohio State, he'll arrive in the summer. But when he does arrive, the Ohio State coaches have told him to be ready for an open competition at right guard.

"They told me to be ready to compete when I get up there," he said. "They told me there would possibly be two spots open, but I'm pretty sure that Billy (Price) is going to stay. They are looking for me more at right guard, to compete for the guard spot. They told me to be ready to compete."

Davis is rated the No. 4 prospect in the state of California and the No. 20 overall prospect in the 2017 class by Rivals.com.
