Ohio State's class was mostly finished before the 2019 football season even kicked off. The Buckeyes added a few key pieces during the fall and then received a huge Signing Day boom on Wednesday afternoon, landing Rancho Cucamonga (Cali.) quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Stroud committed to the Buckeyes over Georgia, Michigan, and Oregon.

"Ohio State was definitely the best choice for me," Stroud said on his ESPNU announcement."I just feel like I'm really close to coach Day and coach Yurcich. Those guys are doing great things."

Stroud has been one of the hottest names in recruiting over the past six months, dominating the summer camp circuit and then parlaying that into a big senior season. Ohio State first took notice of Stroud late in the spring and really picked things up after his performance in the Elite 11 finals as well as The Opening.

The Buckeyes offered Stroud in the fall, hosted him for an unofficial visit and then again for an official visit the last weekend of the recruiting calendar. Stroud's fit in the offense was a huge plus for Ohio State and Stroud's trips to Columbus just made him feel comfortable with all that entails.

"I feel like Ohio State is definitely putting out the best quarterbacks and getting them ready for the NFL," he said. "I feel like I can be the next dude."

His play has earned him gradual rises in the recruiting rankings, all the way up to No. 43 overall in the nation at last update. The Buckeyes now have signed a pair of four-star quarterbacks in this 2020 class as Stroud joins Jack Miller. Stroud and Miller will help replenish a depleted quarterback room behind starter Justin Fields.

BuckeyeGrove.com will have more on Stroud's commitment to Ohio State shortly.
