Ohio State hosted several high profile visitors over the weekend in conjunction with a big spring practice on Saturday morning. One of the top prospects in attendance was Middletown (Del.) wide receiver Chris Godwin. The 6-foot-2, 192-pound prospect got his first up close look at the Ohio State program.
"It went really well," explained Godwin. "I had a great time. I got to watch practice, tour campus, talk with coach (Urban) Meyer, the offensive coordinator (Tom Herman), and the receivers coach (Zach Smith) and I got to see the stadium and how they all coached."
Godwin came away impressed by the pace at which practice was conducted and the intensity that was shown by the players.
"It was really high energy and fast tempo, I liked it a lot," he said.
The four-star prospect holds more than 15 early scholarship offers including one from Ohio State. The coaching staff made sure to let Godwin know that he was among their top targets at the wide receiver position.
"They were telling me how they really like how I play and they would love to have me come to Ohio State," he said.
The interest is definitely mutual at this point as Godwin says the visit helped the Buckeyes' chances in a race that will include several outstanding programs.
"I really enjoyed myself there and I had a great time," he explained. "They are definitely one of my top few choices."
Among Godwin's other offers are Boston College, California, Maryland, N.C. State, Northwestern, Penn State, Rutgers, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.
Godwin has at least two visits to schools on the above list that he will make during the month of April with a stop at Rutgers on the 6th and a stop at Virginia Tech on the 20th.
