Buckeyes still evaluating Vann

There are still several class of 2018 Ohioans being closely evaluated by Ohio State and one of the in-state prospects getting a serious look is Fairfield defensive end Malik Vann. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound prospect was on campus Saturday with his teammate, 2018 offensive lineman Jackson Carman, and was blown away by the game day experience.

"Me growing up a Buckeye fan, I always wanted to see a OSU vs UM game," said Vann. "That was honestly the best game I've went to all year."

A defensive player by trade, Vann kept a close eye on two great defenses throughout the game and was impressed with how the Buckeye defense clamped down at key moments.

"Overtime, definitely," he said on what stood out. "The defense stood tall. Defense wins championships."

Vann was able to catch up with his primary recruiters at Ohio State who let him know they are still watching his development closely.

"I talked to coach Coombs, coach Johnson and coach Hinton," he shared. "They want to see how I progress and they want me to keep working."

Vann will announce his decision in June, so there is still time for plenty of things to change in his recruitment, including an offer from the Buckeyes. If that happened, it could be a game-changer.

"It would mean a lot because it's a dream offer that I've wanted since I was little," he said.
